SRINAGAR: Police Tuesday claimed to have recovered more than 600 banned drug strips and arrested three drug peddlers during a naka near Iqbal Park area of Saraiballa Srinagar.
A police official said that during a Naka near Iqbal Park area, police team from Shergardi apprehended three drug peddlers identified as Adil Faroq of Rambagh, Wasim Raja Matta of Natipora and Wajid Ashraf Bhat of Kantbagh Chadoora and recovered 600 Spasmo Proxymon strips from their possession.
The tablets are highly harmful and are used by drug addicts for psychotropic high. The Spasmo Proxyvon contains dextropropoxyphene which is a weak opioid (opium-like) agent, the official said.
FIR no 06/2015 has been registered under section 8/22 NDPS act, the official said, adding that the percentage of drug menace has certainly increased.
We will continue the drive against drug peddlers as the menace has affected the society to very much extent. We appeal people to cooperate with police in this drive, the official added.
