Srinagar: Chinar Corps, as part of women empowerment initiative launched a tailoring course for 30 women of Kulgam and Shopian districts.
Another social venture in the form of vocational training capsule, focused at imparting training in mini fashion designing was undertaken.
During a concluding function, held at AGS Behibagh. all successful students were given the certificates by a NGO (Youth Empowerment Organisation). The basic tailoring course was run for the duration of two months. A total of 30 girls students participated in the subject course. The students who underwent the subject course expressed their desire to get trained in advanced course. The students upon successful completion of the mini fashion designing course shall be assisted for employment through the NGO.
In other occasion a Drug awareness campaign was organized for the youth at Quasba Nagam. Drug menace slowly but steadily has gripped the nation. Kashmir has also been affected by the same problem. More Youths from the valley are increasingly falling prey to drug abuse. To make the local Youth aware of the problems and to help them to eradicate this menace, Rashtriya Rifles battalion based at Qasba Nagam on 22 Jan 2015 organised a lecture on Drug Awareness at Youth Guidance Node. A total of 65 Youths (36 Boys and 29 Girls) attended this lecture. The lecture was conducted by the medical representative from Rashtriya Rifles. During the workshops the youth were made aware of the various kinds of drugs, their effects on mind, health and the various cures to be adapted for the eradication of the same. Emphasis was also laid on community programmes which can strengthen norms against drug use and the role of family and the school in the same. A video clipping on Drug Abuse was also shown to the youth for better understanding and assimilation of this social menace. Towards the end an interactive session was also held with the youth where in issues related to the drug abuse were discussed. The Youth appreciated the effort for conducting this contact programme. People of all age groups and genders have turned up in large number and participated with great enthusiasm and zeal making these events a huge success.
