Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday asserted people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a historic mandate in the Assembly elections despite the boycott call given by the separatists and militant threat.
Addressing the BJP rally in New Delhi Modi congratulated people of Jammu and Kashmir for casting votes in large numbers and that too in favour of BJP.
I salute the people of Jammu and Kashmir who despite the poll boycott call from the separatists and terror threats came out and voted in large numbers. They have given a historic mandate, he said.
Without naming separatist leaders he said, Some elements in Jammu and Kashmir though tried to defame the Indian democracy in the recent Assembly elections, but they were surprised when people rejected them and showed trust in the Indian democracy.
According to KNS correspondent the rally was also attended by Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS in PMO and BJPs State Unit Chief Jugal Kishore who was felicitated in the rally by Modi for his role in the recent JK Assembly elections where BJP won 25 seats.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister was projected as the face of the BJP’s campaign in the Jammu and Kashmir elections and addressed eight rallies in the state during November-December Assembly elections.
The other top party leaders, including BJP president Amit Shah, National General Secretary Ram Lal, union minister Arun Jaitley, also visited the Jammu and Kashmir in the Assembly elections and addressed rallies.
