SRINAGAR: Playing smart over the speculations that Peoples Democratic Party was not in favor of alliance with BJP, the senior leader of PDP and Member Parliament Muzafar Hussain Baig Wednesday said that though the party is not in a hurry to take decision over the formation of government, but the party does not rule out the Bharatiya Janata Party to be their partner.
He also said that the BJP top leadership wont press for scrapping of the controversial Article 370.
See we are not at all in a hurry to take a decision in this regard but let me tell you here that though both the parties PDP and BJP during the election campaign targeted each other but for the formation of government BJP is not untouchable for us, he said.
He urged the party to give chance to winning candidates from both the Kashmir and Jammu region to play their role in the formation of the new government. In the interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir I urge the party leadership to give a chance to both the Jammu and Kashmir regions winning candidates in the government, he said.
He said that the party will sit in next couple of days and will take some important decisions regarding the formation of government. The Party top leadership will meet in next couple of days and will take some important decisions regarding the formation of government, he said.
EXPLORING ALL OPTIONS
Dismayed that the outcome of elections was not upto her expectations, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday said her party is not in hurry to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to reporters after the announcement of the results in 87 assembly segments of the state wherefrom PDP got 28 seats, Mehbooba said that the results which came to fore were not upto her expectations. She however said she is happy that her party has emerged as the single largest one in the state.
The PDP president also refused to comment whether her party would forge alliance with the BJP for the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir during the 12 assembly of the state. It is not a decisive mandate. It was not upto our expectations. We at the same time are not in hurry for the formation of the government. We are looking for a government which is based on an agenda. The agenda of good governance, Mehbooba said.
She added further that her party is exploring all the possibilities and will do its best for the people of the state. That government should be formed which is credible. It must be able to deliver on ground for the betterment of the people of the state.
