SRINAGAR: The Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra Kumar Monday said that the separatist leaders, detained ahead of the state elections, will be released along with the stone throwers who were detained by the police to ensure smooth polling in valley.
As the fourth phase of the five phased elections ended on Sunday with the last phase scheduled in Jammu, the DGP said that the arrangements are being made to release the people who were earlier kept under preventive custody. We are releasing them and related steps are being taken for the same, he said.
Over the manhunt launched against the youth involved in the acid attack on a Srinagar girl, the state police chief said that police have reached towards the bottom of the case and that in near future the culprits will be behind the bars. We have done much progress in the case and I can assure you that in near future, the culprits will be arrested, he vowed. (KNS)
