Poonch: A couple was brutally assaulted with an axe by a group of people including a Panch and two government teachers in Balakote area of Poonch district.
Sources said that a labourer namely Muhammad Fayaz and his wife hailing from Panjnin village went to drink water at a government school, which often remains closed. But, when they went there, the two teachers of the school identified as Muhammad Usman and Muhammad Sarfaraz stopped them from drinking water from school tap and said them that you pollute it.
These two teachers and village Panch namely Muhammad Iqbal attacked the labourer and thrashed his wife, sources said.
In the assault, the labourer got serious injuries and was rushed to Police Post Balakote and from where he was shifted to Sub-District Hospital Mendhar.
Following the assault, the couple filed a written complaint with police and police also registered a case under FIR number 197 under sections 307, 323, 147 and 382 RPC. Three other persons have also been included in the FIR, sources said.
However, no one has been arrested so far.
