Srinagar: Demand for the immediate arrest of the acid attackers goes louder as protests continue in Srinagar on Saturday.
Scores of Law students from Kashmir University appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and demanded immediate arrest and stringent punishment for the guilty responsible for the acid attack on a female law student.
Pertinently, a female law student suffered severe burn injuries when two car-borne youth allegedly hurled acid on her outside her college at Nowshehra in the city, leading to widespread condemnation from all quarters.
The students carrying placards and banners seeking justice for the victim demanded arrest and subsequent punishment for the culprits. They appealed to police to launch a manhunt to nab the culprits and bring them to justice.
The protesting students castigated state administration and Human Rights Commission for failing to take cognizance of the crimes against females in the society. Eve-teasing, acid attacks and stalking phenomena are on rise in Kashmir while State administration is not taking any measures to stop such acts in the society, they said.
Meanwhile, PDP senior leader Yasir Reshi in a statement urged upon the lawyer community not to take up the case of the culprits responsible for the acid attack. He also appealed police to take measures to nab the culprits who ruined the life of an innocent female student.
