CHENIGAM: Thursdays encounter forced a brother to cancel the wedding of his sister as he lost all his savings in the battle between militants and government forces.
The marriage of my sister Firdousa Banoo was due on November 15 (Saturday). We cancelled it as unknown persons decamped with cash from my house when gun-fight was on in the area, said Bashir Ahmed Dar adding that cash Rs one lakh fifty-seven thousand were stolen from the cupboard of his house.
I dont blame army or CRPF for the burglary but one thing is sure that when fierce gun-fight was going on, only government forces and militants were present in and around my house, Dar said adding that he had set apart that money for marriage purpose. (CNS)
