Shopian town in South Kashmir observed a shutdown on Tuesday. The call was given by Hurriyat G chairman Syed Ali Geelani against what he had called police atrocities and the high handedness of a police official in harassing people.
All the shops and business establishments remained closed however, private transport plied smoothly on roads. Geelani in a statement has alleged that police is resorting to random arrests of youth in the town and it had arrested one of its members Muhammad Yousuf Falahi in the Court premises. He had appealed traders to observe shutdown in the town.
