Now visit Srinagar, CPIM tells Modi

SRINAGAR: Expressing concern over the way India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ignoring the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir Srinagar, State Secretary Communist Party of India (Marxist), Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami Tuesday said that he fails to understand why Narendra Modi is shying away from the people of Kashmir.

“He came to Jammu, met people and journalists there and in Ladakh he repeated the same process. My question to him is why he is not visiting Srinagar and meeting people and journalists here,” Tarigami said adding that his actions give an impression that he is intentionally ignoring the people of Kashmir especially Srinagar.Tarigami added that it is a million dollar question why Narendra Modi has avoided visiting Srinagar and meeting people and journalist here. “He (Modi) should visit Srinagar and take stock of the ground situation. If he talks about the equal development of three regions of the state of Jammu and Kashmir then there should be no reason in avoiding Srinagar. So far an impression has been given to the people of Kashmir, that prime minister of India has ignored them and he is no mood to visit here and meet people,” Tarigami said.
