Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Amit Kumar has confirmed the arrests.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference M, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stated that the use of firepower against the peaceful protesters and murdering young Kashmiris has become the inalienable part of duties of police and other government forces stationed in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz said that police and other government forces were misusing the special powers granted to them by the state. He stated that government wants to repeat 2010 like incidents when they martyred more than 120 youth in peaceful azaadi protests. He stated that target killing of youth, blasting of houses, use of force against peaceful protesters, wanton arrests, and imposition of curfews were some of the Israeli type tactics being used by Indian forces in Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering at Kanel masjid Mahraj Gunj, Mirwaiz termed the recent killing of Suhail Ahmad lone of Kulgam, injuring of scores of others by government forces, and wanton arrest of youth from old city as a clear case of state sponsored terrorism.
Mirwaiz stated that governments around the world have not used force to stop or kill the protesters demonstrating against naked aggression of Israelis against Palestinians,. Ironically, he said, it had become the habit of state government in Kashmir to suppress the peaceful protests and they followed the same policy of killing and arresting Kashmiris for expressing solidarity with the Palestinians.
