Srinagar: Suspected militants on Thursday evening attacked a police party guarding Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) School at Shopian in south Kashmir.
GNS, quoting a police official, reported that some local militants at around 10:30 pm last evening opened fire upon police men who were guarding the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School at Aglar area of Zainpora in the district.
The police men retaliated, however, the militants taking advantage of darkness managed to escape from the spot, the official said.
The official further added that the fire created the panic among the locals and the students boarding in the school.
Soon after the incident, army, CRPF and Special Operation Group of Police rushed to the site and cordoned off the whole area, he said, adding that the joint team of forces launched the hunt in the adjoining village to nab the suspected attackers.
