SRINAGAR: South Kashmir Civil Society remembered the martyrs of 2008-10 while observing the World No Child Labor Day in Anantnag. The society has said that the perpetual conflict in Kashmir has spawned financial insecurities in Kashmir thereby causing child labor. The civil society has demanded total mapping of underage laborers in Kashmir. The organization observed the “Wolrd No Child Labor Day” in Anantnag on Thursday.
Citing survey from the Institute of Public Policy Research and Development the participants said 414 million people in India live Below Poverty Line(BPL),274 million people is expected to rise by the year 2014-2015 ending in the category of Lower Middle Class(LMC), while as around 618 million is expected to rise in India in the category of Average Middle Class (AMC), which implies that 750 million in India will come in the category of half a dollar per day earning. issue.
The presenter said that current scenario of India is forcing chilen to go for the child labour in a a vast section of the society; continuing conflict in Kashmir has also contributed a quantum of child labour in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, sadly no concrete mapping has been about the chilen entrenched in the mess and marsh of child labour but the indicators show that most of the chilen enaged in child labour in the state are involved domestic help ;IPPRD presenter said.
In the workshop it was at a stretch discussed that unless state and non- state partisans and other stakeholders will not focus on the well defined social protection policy vis-à-vis child labour ,whether it is healthcare, education or other basic parameters, need to be given prominence and imparting skill based education which has an ample demand in present global/domestic market just after entering the adulthood our chilen should get these traits ;besides innovative; hi tech knowledge enhancement techniques in schools.
On the other hand SKCS expressed solidarity with the families of innocent youths who became victims in 2008 and 2010 summer uprisings.
