Srinagar: In a tragic incident, a man, whose wedding was scheduled for Sunday, died today after he went to wash his face in a stream in south Kashmirs Anantnag district, locals said.
Muhammad Ashraf Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, who was a resident of Shahstargam village of Dooru in the district, had gone to wash his face in a local steam. But he slipped and drowned in the stream a local told GNS.
The body of the deceased was recovered by police and his post-mortem was conducted.
The family of Ashraf, however, alleged that their son was murdered and he didnt die due to drowning. A pall of gloom descended on Ashrafs village after his body was brought there.
Meanwhile, police said that they have started the investigations in this regard.
