Man Drowns Day Before Wedding

Srinagar: In a tragic incident, a man, whose wedding was scheduled for Sunday, died today after he went to wash his face in a stream in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, locals said.

Muhammad Ashraf Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, who was a resident of Shahstargam village of Dooru in the district, had gone to wash his face in a local steam. “But he slipped and drowned in the stream” a local told GNS.

The body of the deceased was recovered by police and his post-mortem was conducted.

The family of Ashraf, however, alleged that their son was murdered and he didn’t die due to drowning. A pall of gloom descended on Ashraf’s village after his body was brought there.

Meanwhile, police said that they have started the investigations in this regard.
