SRINAGAR-After completing his 2-year term as Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Khalid Bashir Ahmad today demitted office handing over the charge to the senior-most Additional Secretary, Haroon Rashid, till the government appoints a new Secretary.
At the Academys Central Office here, Khalid was accorded warm send- off by his colleagues who recalled his tenure as smooth, non-controversial and very productive period for the institution. The Academy, they observed, hummed with activities and many important initiatives were taken including the digitization of the Academys wealth of manuscripts and paintings, holding of mega exhibitions on Quranic manuscripts and Kashmir heritage, foundation laying of multi-crore Tehzeeb Mahal, launching of a comprehensive website and newsletter Saqafat, institution of artists and writers welfare fund, enhancement of remuneration and TA/DA of writers and artists, series of language conferences, revival of writers camp and drama festival in Kashmir, bringing out series of special publications etc. The tenure will be also remembered for adherence to rules and discipline.
Responding the sentiments, Khalid thanked his colleagues for their support and assistance which, he said, made his job easy.
