Srinagar: At least 97 DySps who were promoted as Superintendents of Police last year are still waiting for their adjustments.
The State Home Department promoted at least DySps to SP post with much pomp and show, however, even after the expiry of one year, these promoted officers are still acting as DySPs and have not been adjusted in any wing of the Jammu and Kashmir police department till date.
One of the promoted officers said on condition of anonymity that despite being promoted as SPs, they were still working as DySPs.
A Home Department official said that all these promotes would be adjusted soon as the formalities in this regard have almost been completed.
Meanwhile, the seniority list file of Head Constables, Sub-Inspector and Inspectors is still pending and according to police sources the file is gathering dust in the chambers of Finance Minister.
Police sources said that five years before, Omar Abdullah led government had decided to draft a list of senior police personnel due who were due for promotion. A police official said all the formalities were completed in this regard but the Finance Ministry for the reasons better known to it did not take up the matter seriously and the file is gathering dust there. We cant stage protest against the government. Revenue officials went on indefinite strike and the government succumbed to their pressure but we are silent and government is taking us lightly, a police official said.
