Palhalan : A complete shutdown was observed in North Kashmirs Palhalan area of Pattan town on Friday in remembrance of Lashker-e-Toiba militant commander who was killed last year on May 23 in Fathe Kadal Srinagar city during a gun-fight with government forces.
Eyewitnesses said that all the shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the roads. People observed complete shutdown and offered prayers for the slain LeT commander Hilal Ahmad Rather alias Hilal Moulvi resident of Palhallan Village on his first death anniversary.
Large contingent of police and Para-military troopers had been deployed to thwart any kind of protests. As a precautionary police had laid barricades and concertina wires at various junctions.
Pertinently, Hilal Molvi had joined militant ranks in 2012 after being booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) in cases relating to stone throwing and disruption of peace.
