Srinagar: Srinagar police apprehended two peddlers and recovered 130 bottles Codeine Phosphate from a Van at a Naka in Nowhatta area. In its drive against drug abuse, Srinagar police on a tip off established a Naka at Malkha Chowk in the jurisdiction of police station Nowhatta. According to a statement , the police party intercepted a Van bearing registration number JK01C/6948 at the Naka. During the search of the Van police party recovered 130 bottles of Amcodine syrup from the van. Two peddlers Mehraj u Din Mir son of Ghulam Nabi and Gulzar Ahmad War son of Abdul Rashid both residents of Saida Kadal boarding the van were taken into custody.
A case FIR No. 40/2014 under section 21 NDPS was registered in police station Nowhatta and investigation has been started. During investigation it surfaced that the duo use to supply these bottles to the youth indulging in drug abuse in Sher i Khaas area. The Van was also seized by the police.
