Srinagar: Central Ground Water Board, North Western Himalayan Region, Jammu organized one day workshop on “Impact of Climate Change on Ground Water Resources in Karewas of Kashmir Valley.
The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr.Shakil Ahmed Romshoo,Head of Department Earth Science, Kashmir University J&K and Ahmed Muzaffar Lankar, Chief Engineer PHE as a guest of honor while Sonum Lotus Director IMD, S.K.Juneja Senior Scientist CGWA Delhi presided over the function.
The workshop was organized under the guidance of N.R.Bhagat, Regional Director, Central Ground Water Board, NWHR, Jammu.
In the inaugural address, The Chief Guest Dr.Shakil Ahmed Romshoo said that the Impact of Climate Change is loud and clear and this is evident from rapid shrinkage of glacier which is the storage house of water for all purpose.
During his speech, Ahmed Muzaffar Lankar, Chief Engineer PHE emphasize the need for more research on climate change and sharing of data among the concern departments.
The objective of the workshop was information dissemination, awareness creation and capacity building.
This workshop brought out the findings and the innovative works that have been carried out by various institutions and individuals in the ground water sector in a lucid and holistic manner for effective understanding of impact climate on Groundwater Resources in Karewas of Kashmir Valley.
