Doda: At least three persons who were part of a marriage party were killed and eight others seriously injured when a Tata Sumo (JK06-3399) rolled down from the road and fell into a deep gorge at Galgandar on Doda-Bhaderwah road late Friday evening in district Doda.
Police sources said that the ill-fated Tate Sumo carrying marriage party was on its way from Thathri to Parnoo when it skidded off the road and rolled down deep into 200 feet gorge on the bank of the River Neeru.
Soon after the accident locals arrived on spot and recovered three dead bodies. They were identified as Kuljit Kumar son of Girdhari Lal resident of Indrala Thatri, Arjun Singh son of Daljit Singh resident of Shehrot and Rajesh Kumar son of Kanya Lal resident of Gutasa Badherwah.
Police identified the injured as Sandeep Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Swarn Singh, Minkal Kumar, Vinkal Kumar, Om Parkash, Paramjit Singh and Koushal Kumar. All the injured who are the residents of Shehrot Thathri were shifted to District Hospital Doda for treatment.
Hospital sources said three of the injured persons, Sandeep Kumar, Om Prakash and Pradeep Kumar were air lifted to Government Medical College Jammu in serious condition.
