Vested interests dont want peace to prevail in Kashmir
NEW DELHI: Noted social activist Swami Agnivesh Monday said that Kashmiri people should take a cue from the people of Delhi and join hands to put an end to the corrupt system existing in Jammu and Kashmir. The two decades long militancy has created so many groups of vested interests which do not want peace to prevail in Valley. These groups fill their coffers with the money pumped by New Delhi in Kashmir, Agnivesh told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that Aam Admi Party (AAP) is not the enemy of Kashmiri people.
Agnivesh said it is high time that people in the State create a political party involving poor and upright citizens to oust the corrupt politicians and put an end to the hegemony of a particular family. We must remember that people are the ultimate source of authority. It is a wrong notion that AAP is the party of Arvind Kejriwal but it is the party of common people. If people of Kashmir would set up a party like AAP then there is no reason why they cant oust greedy and corrupt politicians from power, he said adding that people should not get sullied by bad politics and must join it to clean the system.
Agnivesh said that most of the problems of the people of Jammu and Kashmir stem from the dirty politics existing in the State. There is no electricity and power bills are high because ministers are corrupt, he said adding that people of Kashmir must say no to family politics to change their destiny.
Responding to a question, Agnivesh said that there is no denying that Pakistan has sidestepped Kashmir issue as the premier of this country wants friendship with India. Separatist leaders in Kashmir are not wrong by complaining that Kashmir issue has been sidelined by Pakistan. Pakistan has its own compulsions as it has become prey of terrorism itself.
He said that New Delhi is pumping so much money in conflict-torn Kashmir and all this money goes into the coffers of vested interest groups that have come up during last two decade long militancy. Let there be an audit so that people of Kashmir would come to know who the beneficiaries of militancy are and where the funds go that New Delhi provides without any accountability, he said adding that he along with his associates are going to launch Bharat Key Log party and open its offices in Kashmir as well.
