Wife-Paramour Held for Kulgam Murder

SRINAGAR: Kulgam police cracked a blind murder case by arresting the wife of the murdered person and her paramour.

On 21 December, Kulgam police was informed by some people that a body was found hanging from a tree in an orchid at village Motargam near Kharnad. Police immediately rushed to the spot and started an inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC to ascertain the cause of the death. The body was later identified as that of Abdul Rashid Dar son of Haji Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Motargam.

The autopsy of the body was conducted at District Hospital Kulgam. The Post Mortem report revealed that the deceased had torture marks on the private parts and his neck was broken.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 343/2013 under section 302 RPC was registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation taken up.

During the course of investigation suspected persons of the village were brought to Police Station for questioning wherein it came to light that one Ali Mohammad Dar son of Ama Dar resident of Motargam had developed illicit relations with Muzmila Akhter, the wife of the deceased.

Both of them were arrested and during sustained questioning the duo revealed that the deceased had become a hurdle in their affairs and they hatched conspiracy against the deceased and subsequently killed him mercilessly during the intervening night of 20/21 December, 2013 at his residence. They further revealed that the duo shifted the body outside the village and hanged it on a tree in an orchard to pass the death as suicide.
