SRINAGAR: Advising Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to read the annals of history before targeting National Conference, legislator and NC additional General Secretary Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamal Saturday said that India sent Army to Kashmir on the repeated requests of Maharaja Hari Singh.
How Mirwaiz Umar Farooq can blame late Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah for this when history is witness to all the facts, Kamal told CNS adding that he has a great regard for Mirwaiz but he should refrain from distorting history.
He said that it was Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah who freed people of Kashmir from the clutches of land lords and helped them breathe freely. Shiekh supported India after he saw what tribals did to Kashmiri people during their invasion. Tribesmen looted the people of Kashmir, killed them in cold blood and raped our women. People of Kashmir gathered around Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah and supported him in his mission to support India, Kamal said.
Expressing resentment over the claims made by Mirwaiz that NC sold Jammu and Kashmirs resources to New Delhi, Kamal said that Indus-Water Treaty came into effect during the reign of late Bakshi Ghulam Muhammad and during that time Mirwaiz family acted as mute spectators. You cant blame Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah for everything. One should be rational while raising finger on anyone. We did not sell the States resources to New Delhi instead NC believes that New Delhi should handover all the power projects to the State of Jammu and Kashmir and our party is fighting for this, Kamal said.
