SRINAGAR: The Dutch National, who is in Srinagar Central jail on charges of murdering a British woman at a house boat here in April this year, embraced Islam on Saturday.
43-year-old Dutch tourist De-wit Richard recited Kalima- a sentence to agree to oneness of Allah and the profit hood of Muhammad (Pubh) in the Central Jail, Srinagar today, sources said.
He has taken the name Mohammad Abdullah. He certainly accepted Islam of his own free-will after making a thorough search into various religions of the world, these sources said.
His critical investigations did reveal to him the truth of Islam.
However, the prison authorities did not confirm the report.
Pertinently, police had arrested Richard on April 08 this year after he stabbed to death a 24- yr old British woman Sara Elizabeth inside a houseboat in Dal Lake, Srinagar, a night before. gns
