Srinagar: Kashmir dispute is deep rooted and it has the backing of promises made by the Indian leadership and the resolutions passed on the international level. If New Delhi and its local collaborators think that by implementing curfews, restrictions and the arrests they can change the status of the Kashmir dispute, they are living in a fools paradise, said National Front Chairman Nayeem Khan.
Khan, who was put under house arrest soon after he organized a function to release the book by Afzal Guru, appealed international community, especially the world powers, to impress upon New Delhi to resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the people and to ensure the permanent peace and security of south Asian region.
Indian claims of democracy are hallow unless and until it resolves the Kashmir dispute, Khan said adding New Delhi must note that its claims of democracy cant be proved unless it respects the political demands of Kashmiri people.
Terming the fresh arrest spree by the hands of police as a mark of frustration of the so called government, Khan said the collaborators should know that by continuing oppression on the people they cant achieve anything. They want to prove their faithfulness towards New Delhi but they must remember that their forefathers wasted their lives in doing so but could achieve nothing, he said.
Commenting on the continuous curfew in Shopian, Khan said that New Delhi and its local collaborators want to break the will of the people of Shopian and they try to pass on a message that in future people must think twice before resisting against the oppression. However Khan said, Such oppressive measures were used frequently in the whole state during nineties but the peoples urge for freedom was never killed.
Terming curbs and restrictions on democratic ways as the trade mark of the so called rulers, Khan said that such an attitude always gives rise to revolutions and the people rise to go to any extent.
Paying rich tribute to the two youth martyred in Palhalan, Khan insisted upon people to remember all the martyrs so that they can successfully face the imperialistic attitude of the so called rulers and the sentiment of freedom can remain living within them.
