Separatist Camp Calls For Calm

SRINAGAR: Leaders from the separatist camp has appealed all sections of society to maintain communal harmony and observe brotherhood.

“We appeal people to remain peaceful and observe brotherhood and communal harmony,” senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah said.

He demanded dissolution of VDCs and said: “VDC’s have become terrorist groups and are involved in various criminal activities. He citied the example of recent kidnapping of a minor girl.  We are with the people of Chenab Valley and will not leave them alone at any stage,” Shah said.

He said that he would visit the affected area once restrictions on his movement are removed.

Other separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Yasin Malik too while condemning the incident have also castigated VDC and demanded its permanent dissolution and appealed people to maintain communal harmony.
