Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested nine persons at Sabdan Top in Tanghdar area of North Kashmirs Kupwara district.
Official sources said that joint team of police and armys 20 RR during routine searches recovered an AK-47 along with a magazine from a Sumo bearing registration number JK01R-4432 at Sabden top in Tanghdar Kupwara.
They said all the passengers were detained by the joint team for questioning, however, later it was confirmed by the police that the rifle bearing no; 1975R558855471 and a magazine belongs to the Sumo driver, Reyaz Ahmad Badana son of Jalaludin of Dragged, Kernah.
Reyaz, according to sources, was carrying the rifle to unknown destination in Srinagar, which is being investigated by police.
Sources said that police arrested the driver Reyaz Ahmad and later releases all the eight passengers who were detained for questioning.
A case has been registered in this regard and further investigations have been taken up.
