Local militants killed him, says SP Sopore
Sopore: Unidentified gunmen shot dead an SPO in North Kashmirs Sopore town during the morning hours of Sunday. He was identified as 25 year old Mudasir Ahmed Dar who had joined police department in 2011.
Police sources said that Mudasir was at his home when unidentified persons called him out of his residence at Unto Hamam, Sopore. As soon as he came out, suspected militants fired upon him killing him on the spot, a police official said adding that suspected militants managed to flee from the spot after killing the policeman in cold blood.
Sources said that suspected militants had warned the said SPO many times to refrain from indulging in anti-movement activities.
Superintendent of Police Sopore, Imtiyaz Hussain said that local militants killed Mudasir. There is not a foreign militant present in the town. A few days back Sarpanch was also shot by these local militants and today they killed this SPO in cold blood, he said.
Meanwhile, soon after the incident, Armys 55 Rashtriya Rifles, 189 Battalion of paramilitary CRPF reached the spot along with SOG of police and launched a manhunt to trace the attackers.
However, when reports last came in, no arrests were made. No militant outfit has claimed the responsibility for the attack so far.
The attack comes two days after a Sarpanch was injured when militants fired upon him at Krankshivan Colony in the town.
