JeI Appeals for Sectarian Harmony

SRINAGAR: Expressing deep shock and sorrow over the reported clashes between two groups of Muslims in some areas of central Kashmir's Budgam district, Ameer-i-Jama'at-e-Islami, Muhammad Abdullah Wani, has appealed people to “maintain harmony at all costs to defeat the nefarious designs of divisive elements”.

Ameer-i-Jama’at, who was special guest at an Iftaar party in Soibugh village of the district, said people, should remain vigilant about the divisive elements that are hell-bent upon creating rifts within Muslim community.

Wani said there was no place for such incidents in Islam as Islam calls its followers to be like brothers.

He further said that Islam was a religion of peace and believes in universal brotherhood.

Condemning the elements who instigate such incidents, he called upon people to identify and expose them.

“The people who are responsible for such conspiracies should be identified and given exemplary punishment so as to serve deterrent for others,” he said.

Wani said creating divisions in Muslims community was the biggest sin which should not be condoned.

He also expressed sympathy with the families whose properties were damaged in the unfortunate clashes and called upon Muslims of the area to mutually offer them financial assistance so that their losses are compensated.
