ANANTNAG: A function was today held at office chambers of District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone to felicitate first Kashmiri conqueror of Mount Everest Rafiq Ahmad Malik.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner and several other District Officers were present on the occasion.
Rafiq Ahmad Malik of Kochipora Anantnag serving in JKLI achieved the remarkable milestone on May 20, 2013.
District Development Commissioner lauded Mr. Rafiq Ahmad for being courageous person having worth in the field of mountaineering adding that Mr. Malik has become role model for the youth of J&K and sports persons interested in mountaineering.
Speaking on the function, District Development Commissioner added that his candidature will be recommended for prestigious award.
Pertinently Mr. Rafiq Ahmad Malik conquered Mount Nun (Ladakh), Mount Chowkhamba (Garwal) Mount Kamat (Utrakhand) and Mount Monalasu (Nepal) besides Mount Everest.
