SRINAGAR: Claiming that Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani was barred from offering congregational Friday prayers for 18th consecutive time today, the conglomerate expressed serious concern over the continued detention of the octogenarian leader.
Hurriyat (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar termed the continued restrictions on the ailing leader as condemnable and atrocious.
Geelani Sahab was not allowed to offer prayers on 18 Fridays which speaks volumes about the governments hollow claims that no restrictions are being imposed on him. They (authorities) are worried about his popularity and that is why he is not being allowed to offer prayers, Ayaz Akbar said on Friday. (KNS)
