Grenade Attack in Sopore, Jawan Injured

SRINAGAR:  A paramilitary trooper was injured after unknown persons lobbed a rifle grenade towards a CRPF picket near Hotel Plaza at Bus Stand, Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Official sources said that unknown persons at around 11:10 am Friday morning fired a rifle grenade towards CRPF bunker.

The device exploded outside the Hotel Plaza resulting to injury of a CRPF personnel, he said.

The injured trooper identified as Kabir of 179 battalion of CRPF has been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Soon after the attack paramilitary forces and SOG launched searches to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, Operational Spokesperson of militant outfit, Hizbul Mujhideen Baleeg-u-Din claimed the responsibility for Sopore grenade attack.
