BUDGAM: Armed with spades and iron rods hundreds of people from adjoining villages marched to Shamsabad after Friday prayers and attempted to demolish the so-called religious centre of Gulzar Bhat.
However police stopped them and persuaded them to disperse. According to reports, people form scores of adjoining areas of Budgam district including Krimshora, Draigam, Wagar, Bugroo, Lanora, Nambalnar, Palapora, Banderpora soon after Friday prayers marched towards Shamsabad. The slogan shouting protestors armed with spades and iron tools headed to the Gulzars sex den to dismantle it.
He has tarnished the image of our religion. In the name of religion this beast was indulging in shameful acts and he must be hanged, one of the protestors said.
Agitated protestors set the photographs of Gulzar Bhat on fire and kicked them with shoes and chappals. Amid anti-Gulzar slogans the protestors marched towards Shamsabad.
Sensing trouble, heavy contingents of police and CRPF personnel were deployed near Shamsabad. SDPO and SHO Khansahab persuaded protestors without using force on them. Protestors according to eyewitnesses dispersed peacefully.
In Larkipora area of Kulgam district too people staged a protest against the fake faith-healer and demanded stern action against him. People gathered in large numbers and raised pro-police and anti-Gulzar slogans. The role of Police is appreciable; however it should not now put the case into cold-storage and should expose one and all involved in this racket, said a protester. (CNS)
