SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing Kashmir Tourism Festival, folk artists of the Valley presented a colourful show of Kashmiri folk music and theatre at the Kashmir Haat inviting rounds of applause from the audience. The highlight of the evening was a scintillating performance by noted singer Rashid Haafiz.
A series of three cultural evenings were organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages in association with North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala to showcase rich folk heritage of Kashmir. Today was the last of the three performances.
The enriching evening saw prominent singer of Kashmir, Abdur Rashid Hafiz singing chhakri in his inimitable voice to the delight of a large number of people gathered to witness the cultural evening. Besides, Haafiz, Dilkash Folk Theatre Hatmulla, Kupwara presented Bhand Paether while Dhamali Dance centre Gopal Pora performed Dhamali.
Pertinently, the Academy is currently holding a 2-month long Kashmir Folk Festival with prominent folk artists of the Valley presenting different folk forms of music and theatre before large audiences at Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Verinag, Kokernag, Achhabal, Zabarwan Park and Chinar Bagh.
The Festival is aimed at showcasing and promoting Kashmiri folk in a major way.
