Inaugurates 15KW Plant at SKM Emergency Hospital Batote
RAMBAN- The hospitals of the state will be equipped with Solar Power plants under Phase-I to ensure round the clock power supply in these vital establishments.
This effort of the government would enable the health institutions including District Hospitals, Sub District Hospitals, PHCs and CHCs to extend enhanced medicare to the ailing, said Minister of State for Medical Education, Science and Technology, Feroz Ahmed Khan, after inaugurating Rs. 40 lakh 15 KW Solar Power Plant at Sher-e-Kashmir Emergency Hospital Batote, constructed by Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency through Moser Baer Photovoltaic Ltd.
Being economically viable and technically feasible, these solar plants will also be established in colleges and schools later on.
MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar, Chief Medical Officer, Ramban, Block Medical Officer Batote besides senior officers of JKEDA and district administration was present on the occasion.
Addresing gathering on the occasion, Khan said that there is greater need of utilizing the advancements and developments in Science and Technology in healthcare and educational institutions in the region keeping in view the topography of the area. He said the un-electrified areas will be provided solar power, wind power and mini hydel power as per area feasibility adding that solar home lights have already been provided to the people living in hilly and far flung areas of the state on subsidized rates. He said Science and Technology department is also constructing 2MW capacity Mini Hydel Power projects where there is sufficient source of water besides Solar Home lights are also being provided to the people living in those areas where there is frequent power cuts and technical faults.
The Minister asked the officers to prepare proposals, in consultation with concerned sarpanchs and panchs, for construction of Mini Hydel Power Projects in their respective areas.
