SRINAGAR: A meeting of the Security Core Group was held Saturday at Badami Bagh Cantonment here to review the overall security situation and to draw out the road map for sustaining peace in the Valley.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Lt Gen Om Prakash, GOC Chinar Corps and Director General of Police Ashok Prasad with senior officers of Army, Police, CRPF, BSF, Intelligence Agencies and Civil Administration in attendance.
This is the first Core Group meeting of the year, after Durbar move to Jammu.
Ashok Prasad, DGP, while addressing the meet elaborated on the key security initiatives that have been put into place to manage the law and order situation in the Valley. Major efforts required to be taken by various security agencies with regard to sustaining the peace and harmony through the summer of 2013 were also discussed, the sources said.
