ANANTNAG: According to the Chief Project Officer, Trout Fish Farming Project, Kokernag, Mr. B.A. Bhat, the project making judicious use of the torrential water resource of Kokernag in order to produce and propagate one of the best species of fish. The department of Fisheries through this project has supplied one lakh seeds (Eyed Ova Stage) to various States as inputs for propagation of trout.
The Trout Fish Farming Project, Kokernag is a quality seed production centre of trout and has a seed quantum of 35.10 lakhs (Green OVA). The seeds are stocked in departmental and private units besides augmenting fish production in nature water bodies.
