SRINAGAR: After a bad hiccup last week, the newly-reconstituted state council of ministers is meeting in Jammu on Tuesday, with the contentious panchayat empowerment issue on the agenda.
Apart from discussing the Congress report on the 73rd Amendment to the Pancchayati Raj Act, the cabinet will deliberate on the security situation following attacks on panchayat members, and review the LoC situation, sources said.
Elections for Block Development Councils will also be discussed, with the likelihood of the cabinet finalizing dates for the grassroots polls, they said.
Appointing a new chief secretary for the state too is on the agenda as the present incumbent is due to retire next month.
