JAMMU: The Committee on Estimates (EC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Wednesday directed the Power Development Department (PDD) authorities to expedite the pace of work on all micro and macro power projects under execution in the State to ensure completion in a time bound manner.
The Committee, which met under the Chairmanship of MLA Choudhry Mohammad Ramzan here today, discussed and reviewed the physical and financial achievements of PDD, besides pace of progress on various ongoing power projects including Grid Stations. The Committee Members Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, Mr. Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Mr. G. M. Saroori, Mr. A. R. Veeri, Mr. Mohammad Yasin Shah and Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta stressed upon the PDD officers to gear up their field functionaries and conduct on-the-spot surprise visits to check the power theft and ensure 100 per cent electrification registration of the consumers.
The Committee asked them to ensure un-interrupted power supply and realization of electric tariff targets in full. Threadbare discussion was also held on the implementation of RGGVY and supply of transformers and measures taken for the maintenance of the power infrastructure. Reviewing the progress on projects under Prime Ministers Reconstruction Plan (PMRP), it was informed that the construction work on 11 grid stations have been taken in hand in Kashmir division, out of which 2 projects have already been commissioned and one station would be commissioned soon , while the work on other grid stations is in full swing. The panel directed the concerned to complete the work on remaining stations within a stipulated time frame.
Earlier, the Principal Secretary, PDD Mr. A. K. Mehta briefed the Committee about the achievements of the PDD. Among others, Managing Director, Power Development Corporation (PDC) Mr. Bhasrat Ahmad Dhar, Development Commissioner, Power Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Salaroo, Executive Director, PDC Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, Chief Engineer (CE) PDD, Jammu Mrs. Shahnaz Goni, CEE PPD Kashmir Mr. Muzaffar Ahmad, CE, System and Operations Mr. Gul Aiyaz, CE, Generation Kashmir Malik Mansoor and other officers and engineers of PDD and NHPC besides senior officers from Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
