NEW DELHI: The expert level meetings on Conventional and Nuclear Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between India and Pakistan are scheduled to take place here on Thursday and Friday.
“In view of the recent incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, the issue is expected to get focus,” sources said here today.
Additional Secretary (PAI) Y.K. Sinha will lead the Indian delegation for the meeting on Conventional CBMs, and Joint Secretary (Dand ISA) D.B. Venkatesh Varma will lead the Indian delegation for the meeting on Nuclear CBMs.
The last expert level meetings on Conventional and Nuclear Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between India and Pakistan were held on December 26 and 27, 2011 in Islamabad.
In the last meeting, Pakistan had proposed to India that deployment of artillery and mortars should be done 30 kilometres away from the Line of Control. However, New Delhi had responded that these were not deployed in “offensive position”. Agencies
