SRINAGAR: Staking his partys claim in talks on Kashmir, senior National Conference leader Dr. Mustafa Kamaal on Wednesday urged Hurriyat leaders to join some mainstream group if they want to save themselves from the wrath and rage of the masses.
They are not well-wishers of the people, Dr. Kamaal told the KMN. History will not forgive them.
One faction of the Hurriyat has undertaken a visit to Pakistan, and the separatist camp is in the grip of tussle over the trip, he said.
One must not expect some miraculous outcome out of the visit, not any solid headway with respect to resolving the Kashmir issue, he said.
Patchwork by the Hurriyat men will not deliver a solution to the Kashmir issue, he said. For that it is highly imperative to include the sole representative party of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which is the National Conference, in the talks process.
The Hurriyat leaders do not support public support now, and a handful of leaders visiting Pakistan is not going to make any headway (in resolving the Kashmir issue), he said.
These people brought the gun to Kashmir. They would even have brought the atom bomb, but fortunately they could not, he said.
If they want to save themselves from the wrath of the masses, they must join some mainstream political party without any delay, or wind up there shops, he said.
When asked whether the NC would take them in, he replied: If they want to join the National Conference, they will have to conduct their political activities strictly according to the partys strategy.
Who got one lakh people killed in Kashmir? Who got martyrs graveyards filled? Who killed Mirwaiz Maulana Muhammad Farooq, Abdul Ghani Lone, South Kashmir Mirwaiz Qazi Nisar, the vice chancellor of the Kashmir University Prof Muhseer-ul-Haq, and Dr. Abdul Ahad Guru? he asked.
Who does not know their role before 1975? The late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah used to say that they can describe red as green and green as red, he said.
The Hurriyat leaders are deceiving the people of Kashmir, and misleading them in the name of azadi, he said.
They will have to answer for their deeds, and will be punished by history, he said.
They make their writ run with gun and terror, and before they fall prey to the wrath of their followers, they should adopt the right path, he said.
