DRUNG – MLA LangateEr Rasheed has expressed surprise over the anger and anguish shown by Union Minister for Environment Jayanthi Natarjan over the reports that villagers of Mohammadpora Shopian had tried to burn a bear alive.
Addressing a public meeting at Drung Khaag in district Budgam, He said that though Union minister is duty bound to take care of wild animals and should be given appreciation for showing such a quick response but why is Indian state indifferent when human lives are lost in Kashmir at the hands of security forces.
Natrajan had written a letter to CM Omar Abdullah asking him to take stern action against those who tried to burn the bear. But can she justify why Government of India has never asked state government or intelligence agencies to punish even a single officer involved in human rights violations, he asked.
Er Rasheed said that Kashmiris have a right to ask the central govt. that why it has not shown even the least interest in initiating action against those who carried out incidents like Pathribal and Nadihal and played with honour and dignity of Kashmiri people.
