SRINAGAR (KNS) – Hundreds of government employees and public sector workers Wednesday staged protests at Kulgam and Rajouri as part of the extended 17-dat program announced by the Joint Consultative Committee, an umbrella organization of state workforce to press their demand for enhancement of retirement age, release of 6th Pay Commission arrears and regularization of daily rates workers.
At Kulgam, hundreds of employees held a convention in the town hall after which they took out a rally led by Farooq Ahmad Trali, Muzaffar Ganai, Dr Manzoor Ahmad and Syed Ghulam Rasool, which went round various streets shouting slogans against state government and demanding implementation of written agreements.
Later, the employees staged a sit-in outside the deputy commissioners office after which a memorandum listing the demands was presented to the authorities. Similar reports have come from Rajouri where the protests were led by JCC leaders, Abdul Gafoor Dar and Kulwant Singh. A memorandum was also presented to the deputy commissioner.
