Srinagar – The Spokesperson of the Assembly Secretariat while reacting to certain press reports regarding the hike in the pay scales and perks of legislators termed these as flimsy and exaggerated as no hike in their salary has been ordered by the Government.
To put the records straight, the spokesman said that no hike has been ordered in the salaries of the Legislators. However, the enhancement of annual expenditure for Air travel from Rs.50,000/- to 1,00,000/- was overdue because of the hike in Air fare. Similarly, increase in the remuneration of the PAs from Rs.3000/- to Rs.6000/- for performing their duties round the clock is also justified.
He has further stated that as far as CDF of Rs. 1.50 crore is concerned it is only for developmental purposes and there are strict guidelines laid down which govern the investment and no personal benefit accrues to the Legislators out of this amount. The funds of CDF affect remain always at the disposal of the District Development Commissioners, he added.
