Lahore – Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Patron-in-Chief Amanullah Khan has proposed the unification of Jammu and Kashmir as an independent democratic secular country as the best solution to the problem.
In his formula for the resolution of the decades-old issue, he proposes that the best way to solve it to the best benefit of all parties concerned including India, Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir is to change its nature from a bone of contention to a bridge of friendship between India and Pakistan. And one of the easiest and practicable ways to do so is reunification, he added.
The formula solves the issue without spilling a single drop of blood and will help both India and Pakistan in promoting their international image.
The solution will also nullify any grudge of winning or loosing over Kashmir between India and Pakistan, he observed.
He was of the view that the solution would safeguard ideologies of Indian Pakistanis and Kashmiris.
And last but not least, the solution will end to the probability of a fourth armed conflict between India and Pakistan, he added.
He said, Under the current status quo the solution of Kashmir is being considered on the basis of give-and-take between Pakistan and India which is neither in tune with the Shimla Pact nor will ever cater for rights of Kashmiris. He was of the view that the slogan of the right of self-determination was just a sham to keep Kashmiris engaged.
