Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohiuddin is in dock after his security guards allegedly assaulted a traffic policeman on duty Monday.
The incident took place after the ministers cavalcade jumped a traffic signal in the city.
Reports said the traffic constable on duty at TRC crossing stopped them for violating rule. However, the policeman was thrashed by the senior Congress leader’s personal security officers (PSOs).
PSOs, identified as constables Shafi and Abbas, came down from their vehicle and allegedly thrashed traffic Sub Inspector Mohan Lal, police sources said.
Lal had objected to Minister’s cavalcade not following the traffic signal during peak traffic hour which led to an altercation, they said.
The traffic policeman was hospitalised with severe injury in his left eye, they said.
Later the accused were arrested and a case was filed against them for “assaulting government servant on duty” and charged with attempting to murder (307 RPC). Observer News Service
