Covid-19 Crosses 60K Mark With 1330 New Cases
Srinagar: A 21-year-old youth were among fourteen more people, who succumbed to coronavirus infection in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, taking the number of fatalities due to the virus in the Union Territory to 968.
While ten more Covid-19 deaths were reported from Jammu division, the remaining four, including a 21-year-old youth from south Kashmir were confirmed by officials here.
Regarding the youth, officials said, he was a resident of Ladoo Kulgam and was admitted to SKIMS Soura on September 11 after he had fallen from height and turned out to be Covid-19 positive later.
“He had cardiopulmonary arrest at 2 am,” a doctor at SKIMS Soura said.
A 56-year-old woman from Kaloosa Bandipora died at SKIMS Bemina where she was admitted on September 2, officials said.
A 58-year-old man from Dalgate, they said, was brought to SMHS hospital where doctors declared him brought dead and on testing he turned out to be was covid-19 positive.
A 67-year-old man from Alochi Bagh here died, nearly a fortnight after he was admitted to CD hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients in the Valley.
The deaths from Jammu among others include a 70-year-old from Arnia RS Pura, a 65-year-old man from Shatri Nagar Jammu, a 70-year-old woman from Janipur, a 70-year-old from Talab Tilloo, a 60-year-old Green enclave Rehari Jammu, an 83-year-old from Gandhi Nagar, a 60-year-old from Bakshi Nagar, an 84-year-old man from Nai Basti Satwari and a 52-year-old from same area.
With these deaths 968 people have succumbed to the virus in J&K so far.

Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday crossed 60,000 mark as 1330 more people, including 70 travellers tested Covid-19 positive in the Union Territory.
While 658 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported from Kashmir Valley, the remaining 672 were confirmed by the officials from the Jammu division, officials said Friday. This is for the fifteenth day in a row that cases have exceeded to over a thousand daily
Giving district wise breakup of the cases, officials said that Srinagar reported 237 cases, Budgam 62, Baramulla 64, Pulwama 41, Anantnag 60, Bandipora 65, Kupwara 52, Ganderbal 44, Kulgam 19, Shopian 14, Jammu 221, Rajouri 62, Udhampur 31, Kathua 42, Doda 86, Samba 53, Poonch 77, Ramban 47, Reasi 18 and Kishtwar 35.
Moreover, they said, 784 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 294 from Jammu Division and 490 from Kashmir valley.
