J&K Sees Highest Single Day Spike Of 1698 Cases
Srinagar: At least eight more, including a four-year-old child from Jammu division died of coronavirus on Saturday, taking the total number of fatalities due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Union Territory to 866.
Officials said that six of the victims were from Jammu division, including a minor and three others from Jammu district besides one each from Rajouri and Samba while those who succumbed to virus in Kashmir valley included a 61-year-old woman from Soura, Srinagar and an 81-year-old woman from Bandipora.
Regarding the sexagenarian from Soura, officials said she was admitted to a hospital here on September 9 and died today.
As regards the octogenarian, they said, she was admitted to SKIMS Bemina, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients, on September 3 and died today.
Among others, the victims from Jammu includes a 27-year-old from Akhnoor, a 65-year-old man from Malik Pur Miran Sahib, a 58-year-old from Durga Nagar and a four-year-old child from Janipur.
With these deaths, officials said, 866 people have succumbed to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir so far. Among them, they said, 723 were from the Valley while 143 others were from Jammu division.
Srinagar district with 248 deaths tops the list followed by Baramulla (112), Budgam (70), Pulwama (60), Anantnag (53), Kupwara (56), Jammu (85), Kulgam (40), Shopian (29), Bandipora (28), Ganderbal (25), Rajouri (15), Kathua (11), Doda (9), Samba (8), Poonch (6), Udhampur (4), Reasi (3), Kishtwar (1), and Ramban (1).

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir recorded the highest single-day jump of 1698 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking its count to 52410, official said on Saturday.
With 135 travelers among them, official sources said 838 cases were from Jammu and 860 from Kashmir Valley including 30 from army’s BB Cantt Srinagar, three pregnant woman and two Government employees.
This is for the tenth day in a row that J&K has reported cases in excess of one thousand.
Giving breakup of the cases, they said Srinagar reported 255, Budgam 123, Baramulla 82, Pulwama 50,
Anantnag 45, Kupwara 108, Bandipora 82, Kulgam 10, Ganderbal 45, Shopian 60, Jammu 250, Udhampur 103, Rajouri 83, Kathua 42, Samba 58, Poonch 93, Ramban 31, Doda 67, Reasi 33 and Kishtwar 78.
Moreover, officials said, 596 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 219 from Jammu Division and 377 from Kashmir Valley. (With GNS inputs)
