Ganderbal, Sept 22:- Director Social Welfare Kashmir today impressed upon the officers to do their duty honestly and dedicatedly while implementing various welfare schemes in the State, so that the very purpose is fulfilled to extend financial support to needy and deserving.
Kh. Bashir Ahmed Bhat was addressing a meeting of officers of Social Welfare Department at Ganderbal today, convened to review the pace of progress of implementation of welfare scheme and ICDS sector in the district.
District Programme Officer, DSWO, Ganderbal, Mr. Irfan Ahmed, CDPO TSWOs and other functionaries of the department attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the department paid monthly pension to 20,689 old aged, women in distress and physically challenged persons to the tune of Rs. 4.64 crore during last fiscal and Rs. 2.34 crore till date this year.
The department is running a network of 649 Anganwari Centers in the district in which 6 years old children, 16 years old girls, lactating and expecting mothers are given free supplementary nutrition. An amount of Rs. 2.27 crore was spent during last financial year on the scheme in the district.
Moreover, 7263 students were provided pre and post matric scholarship amounting to Rs. 84 lakh.
Under Aam Aadmi Beema Yojna Scheme, three death cases were provided Rs. 30,000 each this year, when 1441 persons have been brought under the scheme.
The department is also running an orphanage at Kangan where 45 inmates are provided free boarding, lodging, food and education by the department.
